Tow Away Saturday; spring cleaning for chemicals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – If you have stored chemicals and hazardous materials, you could have a spring cleaning opportunity on Saturday.

This Saturday, the Allen County Department of Environmental Management (ACDEM) will host a Saturday for the second time this year.

The program removes chemicals and other illegal materials for disposal, which ACDEM director Tom Fox thinks is important.

About the discarded materials, Fox said, “So we’re trying to give people a safe and legal outlet for these materials to be properly disposed of and then get them out of their homes and know they’re being taken care of. properly and they will not damage the environmental impact or be a health hazard”

“Well, those materials aren’t allowed in the landfill, so you can’t put them in your trash. So we’re trying to give people a safe and legal outlet for these materials to be properly disposed of and then get them out of their homes and know they’re being taken care of properly and won’t damage the impact on the environment or be a health hazard.))”

Motor oil, stale paint, gasoline, fertilizer, and old household cleaners are just a few examples of items accepted at Tox-Away events. Tox-Away has a weight limit of 50 pounds and only accepts cash or check.

They also take latex paint for an additional charge.

There will be two more tox-away Saturdays this year…
