Thousands of donations needed in the name of Betty White ‘Stuns’ Salem, NH, Animal Rescue League

The Salem Animal Rescue League continues to benefit from a national campaign honoring actress and animal welfare advocate Betty White.

The Betty White Challenge, designed to honor White on Jan. 17 on what would have been her 100th birthday, raised more than $14,000 in donations in her name and more are still pouring in.

“We are amazed by the response from our community and are eternally grateful,” said Jinelle Hobson, Executive Director of the LLC. “More than 400 people have contributed to the LLC in Betty’s name through Facebook, our website, or in person, and many of them were first-time donors to our organization.” She added, “We’re still getting donations!”

Hobson said the new donations come at a critical time for the shelter, which continues to feel the financial fallout from the pandemic, including the current spike in costs for everything from fuel oil and electricity to cleaning supplies and cleaning supplies. cat litter.

“Donations will go a long way in helping us care for all of our animals and providing them with a safe, clean and healthy environment while they wait for their forever home,” Hobson said. “Betty White would be so proud of what has been done in her name and how many innocent lives will be saved.”

The challenge began on social media shortly after White’s death on Dec. 31 and quickly went viral internationally.
